19 December 2009 / Happy Holidays!
We wanted to wish you happy holidays and a happy new year. We're busy mixing our new album now and waiting on a blizzard that's about to hit New York City. In the meantime, we have a few "stocking stuffer" ideas for you ...
Firstly, "Dark Was The Night", the 31-song charity compilation that Aaron & Bryce produced for the Red Hot Organization is available everywhere you can buy music. The double album features exclusive songs from Arcade Fire, David Byrne, Feist, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, the National, Dirty Projectors and many others. All proceeds benefit AIDS charities around the world. Sales of the compilation have raised almost $700,000 in the first half of 2009 alone. Give this special album to friends and family and help us contribute to this important cause in the process.
Secondly, Aaron & Bryce's sister Jessica Dessner recently contributed 15 original pencil drawings based on the Chinese zodiac for the artwork of the recently released Sufjan Stevens/Osso album, "Run Rabbit Run". Cincinnati-based Iconoclast Editions has produced limited print editions, 20 per drawing, that are available on-line. The prints are signed and numbered, and come in hand-titled cardboard record sleeves. The printing has been done on gorgeous, thick watercolor paper and the colors are completely accurate. Here is a link to info about the prints.
Finally, there are plenty of great gift options available in our online store here.
We will have some news for you about a new album soon! All the best to you and yours and best wishes for a lovely holiday season.

We wanted to let you know that tickets have gone on-sale today for the "The Long Count" at Brooklyn Academy of Music on October 28th, 30th and 31st.
The Long Count is a collaboration between Aaron and Bryce Dessner and the artist Matthew Ritchie. The 70-minute piece features an animated film by Ritchie, a 14 piece ensemble and songs developed with Matt Berninger, Kim & Kelley Deal (Pixies/Breeders) and Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond).
The piece is loosely based on the Mayan creation myth Popol Vuh which features twin brothers. We hope you'll come check it out!
